Ashley Ridge senior Dalton Delp has signed to swim for the Goucher College Men’s’ Swim Team.

Delp announced his decision on what college to attend on April 23 during a signing celebration held in the Ashley Ridge auditorium.

“I’m looking forward to meeting new people and training with a different team,” Delp said. “Hopefully I’ll be able to improve my times there. It’s a very small school but they have a really nice campus. It’s an all-around good school. I took the chance and went up there on a visit and enjoyed it.”

Goucher is a Division II college located in the Baltimore, Md. area. The Gophers compete in the Landmark Conference.

Delp is considering majoring in business economics or biology. He says he is looking forward to the entire college experience.

“The coaches just want me to train hard, get an education and have fun,” he said. “I like that they aren’t too serious about swimming.”

In high school, Delp emerged as an all-region performer who excels in the 200 IM, 200 Breast, 100 Breast and Sprint Freestyle events. During his senior season, he turned in a Top 10 performance in the 100 Free and a Top 20 performance in the 100 Breast at the Class AAAA state championship meet.

His best 100 Free time is 48.7 seconds and his best 100 Breast time is 1:02.
