On April 29 Google named John Christopher Wright, a sixth grader at Rollings Middle School of the Arts, as the South Carolina winner of the annual Doodle 4 Google contest. He is one of 50 state finalists in the national contest and the people’s vote could help him become the grand prize winner.
Friday is the last day to cast votes. Wright and his family will travel with other state winners to visit Google headquarters in California, where the final five will be announced May 21. The winning student will have their drawing animated and will be on the Google homepage June 9. The winner will also get a $30,000 scholarship and his or her school will receive a $50,000 Google for Education grant.
