Voters will have an opportunity to hear State House and Dorchester County Council Republican candidates talk on election issues tonight.
On Monday, May 12, candidates for S.C. House of Representatives Districts 94 and 98, and candidates for Dorchester County Council Districts 2 and 7 who are competing in the primary will participate in the 2014 Candidate Forum.
The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is expected to last approximately two hours. It will be held in the Town Council Chambers at Town Hall, 200 S. Main Street. The public is invited to attend.
Registered candidates for House seat 94 are incumbent Jenny Horne (R), Evan Guthrie (R) and Franklin Smith (R), and Damian Daly (D). Candidates for House seat 98 are incumbent Chris Murphy (R), Larry Hargett (R), and Rebekah Patrick (D).
Registered candidates for County Council seat 2 are incumbent David Chinnis (R) and Scott A. Inabinet (R). Candidates for County Council seat 7 are incumbent Jay Byars (R) and Lester Dempsey (R).
Only the candidates competing for their partyís nomination will be participating; single-party registrants will not be a part of the debate.
The event is sponsored by the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce and the Summerville Journal Scene.
Journal Scene Publisher Steve Wagenlander will serve as the event moderator.
Members of the public are welcome to submit questions for consideration in advance. Questions should be submitted to Alicia Smith at email@example.com by noon on Friday, May 9. Submissions should include the authorís name, email and district. There also may be an opportunity to submit questions at the event venue before it begins.
