The Pinewood Prep boys’ and girls’ soccer teams are SCISA AAA co-region champions.
The Varsity boys split their games with local rival Porter-Gaud School to share the title and have now won a remarkable 11 consecutive region titles.
The Lady Panthers beat Porter-Gaud 4-0 last week with two goals from Charlotte Ring and two goals from Sarai Bowman.
The Lady Panthers split their games with Hilton Head Christian Academy to share the region title.
On Monday the Pinewood boy’s team played Heathwood Hall at home in the SCISA AAA quarterfinals and won 6-0.
Senior Kevin Weber got things started when he scored from 45 yards out on a free kick.
Pinewood’s second and third goal came from freshman Ryan Huiet and then senior Logan Pooser scored the next two to make it 5-0.
Hayden Low scored the final goal. Thomas Osborne recorded the shut out.
The boy’s team will played Cardinal Newman in the semi-finals after press time.
The Lady Panthers played at home in the quarterfinals on Tuesday and beat Hammond 5-0.
After 10 minutes, junior Sarai Bowman passed the ball to Charlotte Ring and Ring put the ball into the net. Just eight minutes later Bowman took a free kick from 30 yards out and it hit off the wall. Ring was there for the deflection and punched home her second goal of the night.
Sophomore Summer Ricciardi scored the third goal when she dribbled in and fired the ball in the back of the net.
The fourth goal was a great team effort with the ball making it down the left side to Ricciardi for a cross to Kaley Katsanis, who was waiting at the back post to slot the ball home.
The final goal came from Katie Black, who shot the ball through a bunch of traffic to beat the keeper.
Goalkeeper Hannah Miner recorded the shut out.
