Evan Thomas Topper began his trail to Eagle Scout as a Tiger Cub in Pack 750 in Summerville, Swamp Fox District of the Coastal Carolina Council.

He continued the journey up through the Pack to Webelos II and earned the highest honor of Cub Scouting, the Arrow of Light Award, with the help of Den Leader Marion Hunter. He then chose to join Troop 737 under the leadership of Scoutmaster Glen McGee.

Support and guidance from Mr. McGee, other scouts and leaders, helped Evan through many trials, leadership roles through to Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and finally to completion of his rank of Eagle Scout.

Evan chose to support the MUSC Children’s Hospital with his Eagle Project by collecting toys, games, videos, and books that provide things to do for the children and guests during their stay in the hospital. Boxes for collections of the items were donated by Lowe’s of Summerville on Dorchester Road.

With the help of fellow Troop 737 scouts, friends, and family, and the Knights of Columbus in Summerville, Evan was able to successfully collect a large amount of items that were delivered to a grateful staff at MUSC. Special thanks to Lacey McInish at the hospital for her support in his project’s success.

Evan is a senior at Ashley Ridge High School (ARHS) and will graduate in May. He is also a member of three honor societies and VP of the National Science Honors Society at ARHS. After graduation he plans to attend a college to pursue a degree and career in aerospace engineering. He has always been true to the Scout Law and Oath, and has worked hard in school and his many extracurricular activities.

The community congratulates him on earning his Eagle Scout rank.
