SHS senior makes Eagle

Andrew Hunter

Andrew Marion Hunter, 18, a senior at Summerville High School, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts. A Court of Honor ceremony was held on April 26.

Hunter is a member of Troop 730, which is based at St. Paulís Church in Summerville. Hunterís only brother, father and uncle are all Eagles and participated in the Court of Honor.

Hunter began his trail to Eagle in 2004 when he joined Pack 750 at Stallsville United Methodist Church. In 2005 he transferred to Pack 730 at St. Paulís Church. During this time he earned the God and Me award. In 2007 after earning all 20 Webelos Activity Badges and earning the Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouting, he bridged into

Boy Scout Troop 730 at St. Paulís.

In Troop 730, Hunter earned 28 merit badges and held many positions of leadership including chaplain, librarian, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. For his Eagle project Hunter organized scouts and adults to build four benches for use at Rollings Middle School of the Arts in Summerville. They can be seen on the Rollings campus.
