SCE&G brought more than just electricity to a Summerville home May 7. As a part of the company’s Home Weatherization Program, Summerville-based SCE&G employees volunteered their time and talents updating a local home to be more energy efficient and cost effective.

Matthew and Shirley Brown were recipients of the weatherization in Summerville. Their Echo Drive home was constructed in 1972.

Twenty-five SCE&G employees volunteered during the event. They worked from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and added new electrical wiring, insulation, replaced the back door, replaced all windows, installed a new dryer vent pipe, planted rose bushes and installed a wheelchair ramp at the front of the house.
