Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brian Paul Franz, 35, of Summerville, on two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree, on May 21.

The Attorney General’s Office announced the arrest on May 22. The office will prosecute the case.

Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office referred the case to DCSO after they discovered “images depicting children engaged in sexual activity had been disseminated from an account traced to Franz’s residence,” the release stated.

DCSO arrested Franz after executing a search warrant at his home where several pieces of electronic computer equipment were seized.

DCSO and BCSO are both members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Franz was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree, a felony offense. If found guilty, the offenses carry up to 10 years of imprisonment on each count. Franz’s bond was set at $60,000.
