The Summerville Cricket Club defeated the Charlotte Internationals in back-to-back games May 17.
Summerville hosted the Internationals in two 20/20 cricket games. Summerville batted first in the series opener and scored 269 in 20 overs to set a new club record. Sunju Patel scored a fantastic 106 in 33 balls to lead the way. Jinesh Patel scored a fine unbeaten 83 finishing the innings with a very fancy scoop shot. Andy McKay scored 22 and Hitesh 20.
Charlotte was forced to go hard to chase that total and failed, scoring 151. The Internationals batted first in the second game. Summerville bowled them out for 60, reaching the total using mainly 12-year-old Avery Hawes and 14-year-old Dhiral Patel. The youth players scored the majority of the runs but Dave Rowe helped finish the victory off. Anil Patel did a stunning job with the ball, picking up three quick wickets.
The Summerville Cricket Club plans to have a six-sided tournament soon. For updates on the club, visit www.summervillecricket.com or www.facebook.com/summervillecricketclub.
