Public invited to ‘Run the Runway’

The 437th Airlift Wing will host the sixth annual Run the Runway 5K at Joint Base Charleston June 14.

The run will include portions of the flightline and is open to all military, Department of Defense civilians and the local community.

Early race packet pick-up for civilians will be available June 11-13 from 2-8 p.m. at the North Charleston Holiday Inn Express located at 7670 Northwoods Boulevard. DoD civilians, military members and military family members can pick up packets at the Air Base Fitness Center during normal duty hours starting at 3 p.m. June 11.

On the day of the race, civilians must enter the base via the Commissary/BX Access Gate located approximately one mile West from the main gate on Dorchester Road. Gates will open at 6 a.m.

Civilians will be shuttled to the start line from the Commissary/BX parking lot, and then shuttled from the finish line back to Commissary/BX parking lot.

The last shuttle will leave the Commissary/BX parking lot at 7:20 a.m. sharp.

DoD civilians, military members and military family members cannot enter via the Commissary/BX Access gate. They should enter at the Dorchester or Rivers gate and park at the Air Base theater.

There will be no race day registration. All participants must register by June 11 by going to www.jbcharleston.com and using the supplied link.

The race start time is subject to delay based upon weather and civilian airline traffic.
