The 2014 Leadership Dorchester Class of the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce will kick off its community project, enhancing the Sawmill Branch Trail, on June 19 at Third Thursday.
Each year the Leadership Dorchester class selects a project based on the needs of the community.
This year’s class selected the revitalization of the Sawmill Branch Trail as its project to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Summerville and Dorchester County by increasing access and awareness of, beautification to and improvement of the existing amenities of the trail. The project will entail adding new benches, trash cans, signage, mile markers and water fountains. The Sawmill Branch is a multi-use trail located within the city of Summerville and is used for walking or bike riding.
The class encourages the community to come out to June’s Third Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., to not only become aware of the class’s plans for the trail, but to also give the public a chance to express any ideas or suggestions they may have concerning the trail and possible improvements.
