Wire Fraud

A Summerville man reported that he had attempted to buy an SUV through Ebay.com. He said he contacted the listed seller, who sent the complainant instructions on how to buy the vehicle via a wire transfer between the complainant and the seller’s bank account.

The complainant said he wired $4,300 to the account and the vehicle was supposed to be delivered 4-6 days after the transfer. However, the complainant says the vehicle has not been delivered nor has he been able to contact the seller. When the complainant contacted Ebay.com customer service, he was informed that the site had no record of the transaction.

Motorcycle theft

A Summerville woman reported that someone has stolen her 2005 Honda motorcycle. She said she last saw it parked in the parking lot of her apartment complex, Water’s Edge Apartments, at about 5:30 p.m. June 10. She noticed it missing the next morning.

She said the motorcycle had a cover but was not secured; she still has the key to it. The motorcycle was recently painted gray and is “stretched out” with chrome wheels.

The responding officer has entered the item into NCIC.

Thirsty thief

An employee of a Kangaroo Station on Trolley Road reported that an unknown black male subject entered the store, took two cases of beer, and left without paying for the beer. The complainant described the subject as about 5’11” tall and 150 pound and wearing a white tank top. The complainant further stated that the subject fled the property in a black Dodge Magnum with paper plates from East Coast Motor Sports.

Missing money

A Summerville woman reported that someone entered her office on West Doty Avenue and stole $140 from her purse, which was in a desk drawer. The woman said there are no security cameras, nor does she know who might be responsible, however, this is the second time something has been stolen from her at this location in the past two weeks.

Not a campground…

An officer responding to a call about a suspicious person near the Celtic Knot on U.S. 78 found the man lying on the ground in the parking lot lying in a puddle of urine, next to his moped, which was still running.

The officer switched off the key and after several attempts was able to awaken the man. After determining that the man was grossly intoxicated, the officer arrested him for public drunkenness.

The man was transported to Summerville Medical Center for evaluation, then later to the Detention Center in St. George.
