iQor US, Inc. announces expansion of Dorchester County facility
iQor US, Inc., a global provider of business process outsourcing and product support services, is expanding its Dorchester County call center, Gov. Nikki Haley’s office announced Thursday.
The $391,500 investment is expected to create more than 320 new jobs, according to the announcement.
“North Charleston has consistently been a highly successful operation for many years, and so it was an easy decision to expand our presence and create jobs in this market,” Mason Argiropoulos, iQOR’s Chief Human Resources Office, said. “We have every confidence that the highly-skilled Low Country area labor market can provide the talented individuals required to handle the complex transactions inherent to the servicing of our top-of-industry clients.”
The company, which provides after market product and customer support solutions, expects to employ more than 700 people at its facility on Dorchester Road by the end of the year, iQor officials said. iQor currently employs more than 32,000 people worldwide.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved a $50,000 set aside grant for real property improvements related to the project.
Local officials were pleased with the announcement.
“In 2007, iQor chose to expand their global operations here in Dorchester County, and we are pleased to see their continued success,” Dorchester County Council Chairman Bill Hearn said. “We are happy they are investing in Dorchester County once again, and we look forward to our continued partnership with iQor.”
North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey agreed, noting that the announcement is a strong endorsement of the North Charleston and Dorchester County business environment.
“We applaud iQor’s success and are thankful for the capital investment and job creation that will benefit our community,” Summey said. “We commit to maintaining a local environment that is friendly to commerce and accommodating to the needs of all of our North Charleston businesses.”
