Pro Bowl Wide Receiver A.J. Green will return to Summerville this weekend.
Green, a wideout for the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals, will host his second annual Skills Camp for high school-aged football players at Memorial Stadium Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The by-invitation camp is designed to teach high school athletes game and character-building skills that can help them succeed and advance to play at higher levels. Green is expected to bring fellow NFL players as well as high-caliber coaches to the camp to help provide instruction.
Summerville coaches will also help with instruction and say fans wanting to check out the camp are welcome.
“It’s a good opportunity for people to come out and see some local high school athletes receive instruction from NFL players,” Summerville assistant coach Joe Call said. “We were able to get several of our players signed up and we are sure they will come away from the camp with some good tips.”
Green and his handpicked crew of instructors will guide campers though games, drills, and skills contests focused on football fundamentals. Last year’s camp also included experts who provided participants with advice on matters such as basic budgeting, health and fitness awareness and character building.
