Summerville comes out to support Team USA

Monica Kreber/Journal Scene Soccer was on all 30 Buffalo Wild Wings’ flat screens this afternoon.

People all over town cheered on the United States Men’s Soccer Team today as it took on Germany in the World Cup.

Germany won the match 1-0 but people in the area who still have a case of World Cup fever will get the chance to see Team USA again in the World’s largest soccer competition as both teams advance to the next round. The Americans will likely face Belgium in the Round of 16.

Today’s match began at noon and all tables were full at the Summerville Buffalo Wild Wings, where soccer was on all 30-something televisions in the establishment.

The parking lot at Madra Rua Irish Pub off 17-A filled up prior to noon as people in a festive spirit and Red, White and Blue gear rolled into the pub for the match.

A quieter and smaller crowd watched the match at The Mellow Mushroom in Summerville, but every TV was still tuned to the World Cup.
