Summerville celebrates the Fourth

  • Tuesday, July 1, 2014

The Town of Summerville has joined forces with Summerville DREAM to present Summerville’s annual Independence Day celebration: Red, White and Blue on the Green.

This year, the Fourth of July celebration will take place from 5:30 - 9 p.m. at Gahagan Park.

The Jerry Blackwell Sports Complex at Gahagan will be the center of the evening’s festivities, with children’s activities and games, food vendors, face-painting, watermelon eating contest, and music entertainment from Zero to Never.

The main event is a non-motorized parade full of colorfully decorated wagons, costumed children and families.

New to the Red, White and Blue on the Green this year are different vendors and food trucks, a Beer Garden with 25 different beers available to sample and purchase, and a free trolley shuttle from Heritage Square.

After the sun goes down a fireworks display will take place, concluding the Fourth’s celebration.

The event is free for all who attend.
