Missing man located

A man reported missing Tuesday has been found safe and unharmed in Athens, Ga.

Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Sam Richardson said Gregory Rufus Jr. was found this morning in a parking lot in Athens, Ga. According to Richardson, Athens-area law enforement officials reported that Rufus appeared confused and thought he was still in Summerville. He is currently undergoing medical assessment and family members are enroute to pick him up and bring him home, Richardson said.

According to DCSO officials, Rufus dropped his son off at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1. He was last seen on Woodwin Circle near Orangeburg Road.

From there he was supposed to drive home to Hollywood,

Family members told DCSO that Rufus was in good condition mentally, but that he was unfamiliar with this area and was not carrying cash, credit cards, or cell phone although he did have a SC Drivers License, according to DCSO officials.
