Losse Furman Knight

Losse Furman Knight, Sr., 88 of Summerville, husband of Betty H. Knight, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at his residence.

Friends and family may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11 o’clock AM at Knightsville United Methodist Church, 1505 Central Avenue, Summerville. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Knightsville United Methodist Church, 1505 Central Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483.

Losse was born on January 18, 1926 in Summerville, SC son of the late George Pinckney Knight and Ruth (Cone) Knight Duplantis. He attended Summerville High School. He served in the United States Navy and retired from Charleston Naval Shipyard as an electrician. Losse loved bowling, fishing, Atlanta Braves baseball, South Carolina Gamecocks football and baseball. He was a member of Knightsville United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife Betty are: one son: Losse Furman Knight, Jr. (Jo) of Summerville; one daughter: Elaine Knight Schildroth (Mike) of Charlotte, NC; daughter in law: Lynn Knight of Summerville, SC; nine grandchildren: Shawn Heath Cook (Tracy) of Charlotte, NC, Christi L. Lanier of Summerville, SC, Michelle S. Nicholson (Jonathan) of San Francisco, CA, Bill Hardy (Alice) of Summerville, SC, Losse Furman Knight, III (Heather) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Jill S. Mosny (Daniel) of Summerville, SC, Natalie M. Pait of Ft. Mill, SC, Christina L. Knight of Summerville, SC, Michael J. Youmans of Charlotte, NC; 11 great grandchildren; one brother: Floyd W. Hill of Beaufort, SC; one sister: Arlene Sweat Rittenhouse of Knightsville, SC; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Robert “Bobby” George Knight, two brothers, George P. Knight and Clyde Knight, and two sisters, Elizabeth Knight Hilton, Florence Knight and granddaughter, Lillian Toy.
