Parks Field still alive in Dixie Youth Minors tournament

After three days of play, one Summerville team remained alive in the 2014 South Carolina Dixie Youth Minors District 7 All-stars Tournament.

Teams representing Parks Field American, Ladson, Bonneau, Pepperhill, Carolina League, Moncks Corner, Hanahan and Parks Circle/Northwood are vying for the District 7 Minors (age 9-10) championship this week at the Hanahan Recreation Department.

The double-elimination tournament opened Monday and will run through July 11 or 12 depending on whether or not a team makes an undefeated run.

Parks Field remained in the winnerís bracket by earning a win over Pepperhill on Tuesday and a 5-2 win over Moncks Corner on Wednesday.

Carolina League had a big lead over Parks Circle Tuesday, but allowed the team to rally and earn a 16-14 victory. Carolina League, which fell to Moncks Corner on opening day, was eliminated with the loss.

The winner of the tournament will advance to represent District 7 in the Dixie Youth Minors state tournament.
