Hands of Christ plans clothing, school supply distribution

  • Thursday, July 17, 2014

Summerville Presbyterian Church will again be a distribution site for the Hands of Christ school supply ministry.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, to distribute supplies to children in pre-K through fifth grade from families in need.

Hands of Christ first distributed school supplies in the Lowcountry in 2003. That first year, it served 1,006 children in need. Last year, the ministry served 4,522 children.

The ministry strives to provide each child with one new and one gently used outfit, new socks and underwear, and grade-appropriate school supplies.

Children must be present and accompanied by a parent or guardian with a photo ID, and can be served at only one distribution site each year. Summerville Presbyterian is at 407 S. Laurel St.
