Coosaw Creek, Legend Oaks rise in standings

A pair of Summerville-area teams gained ground in the season standings by turning in solid performances during the eighth Charleston Area Menís Interclub Golf Association match of 2014.

On July 7, the associationís 13 teams competed at Charleston Municipal Golf Course and once again the home team claimed top honors. Charleston Municipal finished with a score of 31 to win the match and rise from seventh place in the team standings to second.

Coosaw Creek came in with a score of 27 to claim runner-up honors and jump two spots in the standings, from 10th place to eighth. Legend Oaks finished with a score of 12 to place third for the match and climb from fifth place in the standings to fourth.

Trailing that day were Shadowmoss (5), Stono Ferry (5), Summerville Country Club (-1), Crowfield (-2), Charleston National (-4), Rivertowne (-4), Wescott Plantation (-11), Dunes West (-16), Pine Forest (-19) and Berkeley (-20).

In the annual team competition, Shadowmoss jumped up one spot into first place with 69.5 points. Charleston Municipal climbed five spots into second place with 66.5 points. Trailing in the standings are Wescott Plantation (66), Legend Oaks (65.5), Charleston National (63.5), Pine Forest (62), Stono Ferry (60.5), Coosaw Creek (57), Dunes West (56), Crowfield (53), Berkeley (45), Rivertowne (43) and Summerville (36.5).

The next interclub match is scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 4 at Legend Oaks.
