SCHP v GSP in charity softball game

Looking to show a little love to law enforcement and the Special Olympics?

Come to Joe Riley Stadium August 12 for Law Enforcement Appreciation night.

It’s a battle of the bats as the South Carolina Highway Patrol slugs it out with the Georgia Highway Patrol in a charity softball game.

The event is not only a fun, family-friendly activity to show appreciation for law enforcement, it is a fundraiser to benefit the Special Olympics, SCHP Spokesman Sgt. Bob Beres said.

First pitch is at 4:30 p.m. followed by the Riverdogs game at 7:05 p.m.

“We are a proud supporter of the Special Olympics and we are inspired by the athletes’ desires to compete in the winter/summer games,” Beres said. “It’s our pleasure to assist with the fundraising and help them get to the games – and in the end, it touches your heart when you see them return from the games with their medals, ribbons, and contagious smiles.”

“You can’t beat the ticket price of $5 per person to watch some awesome athletes in action and meet MLB player, Orlando “O-Dog” Hudson,” Beres added. “Come out for a night of fellowship, fun, and support our troopers and this great cause. It’s sure to be a hit!”

Tickets are $5 in advance and are available through the Riverdogs, or at Crews Chevrolet, 8199 Rivers Avenue North Charleston, Beres said.
