Pinewood Preparatory School hosted the 2014 Summer Conference for the Network of Complementary Schools on July 15-18.
Advisors and representatives from 10 of the Network’s schools, located throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, participated in the summer conference.
Guests in attendance were given the opportunity to network, tour Pinewood’s campus, and visit attractions in the Summerville and greater Charleston areas.
While on campus, attendees dined on Lowcountry fare prepared by McNeill’s at Pinewood and met with Head of School Steve Mandell.
Wendy Girgan, Pinewood’s faculty advisor for the Network of Complementary Schools, coordinated the 2014 event. Network President Vince DiGiacomo said, “(Girgan’s) efforts to put together a conference that captured the generosity of the Pinewood community, a taste of the rich historic value of the Summerville and surrounding area are greatly appreciated.”
The Network of Complementary Schools gives students and teachers the opportunity to participate in exchange programs among member schools. During the 2013-2014 school year, 40 students nationwide took part in Network visits. Seven of the 40 students completed their exchange at Pinewood.
Next year marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Network of Complementary Schools at Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. The 2015 Summer Conference will be held at Palmer in recognition of this milestone.
