The coaching staff for the Swamp Fox football program will return largely intact this season.
Kenny Walker is back for his fifth season as the head coach for the program and his seventh overall season with the team. Walker will also coach the defensive ends.
The coaches who took the lead on each side of the ball last year are also back.
Tee Newman, a former Summerville High School coach who transferred to Ashley Ridge after Walker was named head coach, is back as the Swamp Fox offensive coordinator. Brad Thomas, a former West Ashley High School coach, returns as the defensive coordinator and outside linebacker coach.
The staff also includes several other familiar faces.“We have a lot of stability with our staff,” Walker said. “Most of these coaches have been working together for at least a few years. Hopefully we will be able to continue many of the things we have started the past few seasons and it will make a difference.”
Also re-joining Walker for this year’s campaign are Brian Givens (running backs coach), B.J. Bellush (receivers), Ray Wilson (offensive line), John O’Hara (quarterbacks), Jimmy Mitchum (inside linebackers), Jeff Plane (defensive tackles) and Ben Brewer (secondary).
Jerry Kociuruba will again serve as the head coach for the Swamp Fox B-team. Will Fitchett and Bobby Behr are back to coach the AR kickers and long snappers. New to the varsity staff is Caleb Strickland, who will assist Wilson with the offensive lineman.
Walker, Wilson, Bellush, Givens and Behr have been a part of Swamp Fox football since Ashley Ridge first opened. Newman and Mitchum are entering their fifth season with the Swamp Foxes.
