DD2 construction update

On July 28, during Dorchester District Two’s board meeting, Capital Improvements Director Bob Folkman provided the following construction updates:

Sires ES (ES#1 @ Pine Trace)

• Construction start date pending receipt of permits from OCRM and town

• General contractor met with Coastal Center on alternate means of site access

Alston Bailey ES (ES#3 @ Facilities)

• Mobilization by general contractor (erosion control measures) has started

• CIP relocation complete

Sand Hill ES (ES#3)/ Middle School of the Arts

• Phase I - Early Site Package has commenced and continues

• Phase II – Bid Package process commences in 7-10 days

• Final design review meeting held last week

Summerville ES

• Phase I parking lot construction continues

• Phase II construction to commence once SCE&G completes power line relocation

Toilet Renovations

• Four projects remain in construction phase


• Five projects remain in construction phase

• Beech Hill ES has obtained Substantial Completion


• Three projects have commenced construction phase

Flowertown/Newington ES

• Currently in site traffic flow phase. Site meeting with SCDOT scheduled

• Design review meeting held last week

Ashley Ridge HS

• Remains in Construction Document phase
