Friday Night Rivals series includes Summerville-area teams

  • Friday, August 1, 2014

File Fort Dorchester senior Kobe Garrett will get to demonstrate his skill set for a television audience Sept. 19 as part of the Friday Night Rivals series.

There won’t be many Thursday night varsity games in the Lowcountry this football season, but several local teams will still have televised games.

My TV Charleston, the station that brought you Thursday Night Lights the last couple of seasons, will produce Friday Night Rivals this year. The show will air live high school football games featuring Charleston-area teams most Friday nights during the season.

The first game is scheduled to air Aug. 22, Week 1 of the season. The final game for the show is scheduled for Nov. 7.

The Friday Night Rivals’ cameras will be rolling during Summerville High School’s Oct. 3 game with Stratford. The Green Wave’s Oct. 31 road game at Ashley Ridge is also on the 2014 schedule for the series.

Fort Dorchester’s Sept. 19 game against Goose Creek will also be televised as part of the series.
