Bank robbery trial delayed

  • Tuesday, August 5, 2014

A bank robbery trial scheduled for this week has been delayed.

Tyrone Ellison is charged with robbing the Sun Trust Bank at 8610 Dorchester Road on April 1, 2013. That was the case that was to begin Monday.

But heís also accused of going back to rob the same bank, with two accomplices, on July 1, 2013.

In that incident, fleeing robbers crashed into an SUV at S.C. 61 and Campbell Road, sending a Ridgeville couple to the hospital.

The charges in that case are still pending, according to the 1st Circuit Solicitorís Office.

The solicitorís office said the judge granted the defenseís motion for a continuance, so the first trial will likely begin in October.
