The Swamp Foxes are gearing up for their 2014 football season.
Ashley Ridge opened football practice Friday. The team has a lot of experienced players back but does have some things to iron out.
The Swamp Fox offense returns its starting running back and a group of linemen who have played together for a while. This year Ashley Ridge has multiple players out for the quarterback position so depth should be a plus there.
The Swamp Foxes have more work to do on the defensive side as they lost several starters to graduation.
Ashley Ridge fans will have a couple of opportunities to see how things are coming together for the team prior to the start of the season as the team will host two pre-season scrimmages.
The Swamp Foxes put on full pads for the first time Thursday and then travel to Conway for a 10:30 a.m. scrimmage. At 6 p.m. Aug 12, Ashley Ridge will host Bamberg-Ehrhardt for a scrimmage. The team will also host Colleton County for its final scrimmage at 6 p.m. Aug. 15.
Ashley Ridge opens its regular season at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 when it hosts Woodland.
