A Dorchester man reported an unusual and somewhat unnerving situation at his home on Wire Road.
According to a Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the man said he was asleep in a chair in his living room about 10:38 p.m. Aug. 1 when he was awakened by a loud banging sound from outside the house. He said he looked outside and saw a large Hispanic male with red hair cut in a flat top sitting on his tractor in the yard.
According to the report, the complainant said he went outside and yelled at the man to get off of the tractor and leave the property. The subject replied that he was stealing the tractor and would not dismount or leave, so the complainant went back inside, retrieved his pistol, and fired a shot into the air.
The subject then took off running on foot, the complainant said, according to the report.
About 15 minutes later, the complainant said he heard another loud noise and saw that the red-haired Hispanic male was back, this time carrying some type of long gun and accompanied by three friends. The subject kept laughing and saying, “Where is he, I’m going to kill him,” and actually came inside the house.
That’s when the complainant called law enforcement, according to the report.
By the time law enforcement arrived on the scene, the subjects had fled the area, according to the complainant. Officers found the complainant’s gun on top of the refrigerator, as well as a spent shell casing near the door.
Deputies searched the property and surrounding areas but found no one matching the description.
