County hires parks director

  • Thursday, August 14, 2014

Dorchester County announced today itís hired Eric Davis as its first Parks and Recreation Director.

Davis, currently the assistant parks director for the town of Summerville, begins his new role Sept. 8.

The county is in the process of developing several large tracts of land into parks, but has never had a parks department.

A volunteer commission has worked on plans for the parks for the last few years, since voters approved a bond referendum allowing the county to buy land for recreation and conservation.
