Coaches are excited about Lexi Sanchez’s future with the Ashley Ridge girls’ soccer team.
As a freshman last season, Sanchez led the Lady Swamp Foxes in scoring with 11 goals to garner the team’s Golden Boot Award. Sanchez spent two years with the Ashley Ridge JV team but last season was her first with the varsity. The rising sophomore has played soccer since she was 3 and currently plays club ball for South Carolina United Mt. Pleasant.
The forward is excited about her next three seasons at AR.
“We lost a lot of seniors who had been with the team for a long time so it is going to be hard to move forward without them but we have some talented freshmen coming up so I think we will still have a good group that is close and will develop as we go along,” Sanchez said.
An honor student, her personal goals include setting herself up to attend the college of her choice. “I want to keep my starting position and improve as an athlete and pretty soon I need to look at applying to colleges,” she said. “Hopefully I can get a scholarship to play somewhere.”
