Football season is fast approaching, and Summerville Communications is so excited it’s throwing a pep rally for the entire community.
The newspaper company, which publishes the Goose Creek Gazette, Berkeley Independent and Summerville Journal Scene, will host the 2014 High School Football Kickoff, a free community event, from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 24 at Charleston Southern University.
“We really wanted to go at it with a bang,” said Nick Daniels, advertising sales supervisor.
As the summer winds down, everyone’s getting into school mode, he said. And around here, that means football.
The pep rally will include music, entertainment and activities for kids — not to mention a chance to win a 32-inch LED TV. Visit www.journalscene.com and click on the link at the right side of the page for details.
The event will also feature a Best Decorated Car contest so deck out your car in your team’s colors.
The Mighty Mites, a Sertoma league for 5- and 6-year olds, will play a 20-minute flag football game. Football players, cheerleaders and band members from local teams are being invited to attend, and everyone is encouraged to wear team colors to show team spirit.
Nathan Henderson of Henderson & Associates @ Carolina One Real Estate is the title sponsor of the event.
