School Board elections

I was delighted to hear that Brian Mitchum is running for Dorchester District 2 School Board. I have served with him on the DREAM board for several years and know him as a man of unquestionable integrity.

He is also a consensus builder. These qualities combined with his financial experience make him a great school board candidate.

Poor Planning

It has been three consecutive weeks since the construction crew has showed up to work on the bridge that crosses over the Sawmill Trail. WHY!!! The trail is blocked for runners and bikers. I’m a runner and I ignore the fence as do others even when the crew has said “Hey the road is closed.” Too Bad! I asked how long to finish and was told one year before you can run the trail again. So, tell us why such a job should take so long? Oh yeah, no one shows up to work. This is the same story that was Ladson Road. Over four years for less than 5 miles of straight road. This happens becasue construction companies run multiple jobs and are not big enough to afford enough resourses to finish on time. I’m not going to stop at the fence. Many others are not either. Tell us are there penalties in place for a late finish? I doubt it. If there were late fees the job would be on time. This is typical South Carolina road work. Stupid people!
