A Hamlet, N.C. man arrested in July on multiple charges of disseminating obscene material and criminal solicitation of a minor is now behind bars in Dorchester County.

Robert Lee Watson, 41, of Hamlet, N.C., was arrested on nine counts of disseminating obscene material to a person under 18 years old and one count of criminal solicitation of a minor after the parents of a 15-year-old Summerville girl contacted the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office regarding contacts Watson allegedly made to the girl between June 29 and July 10, 2014, according to DCSO officials.

Both charges are felonies that can carry up to a 10-year prison sentence.

Watson was arrested in Hamlet, N.C. on July 31. He subsequently waived extradition and was transported to the Dorchester County Detention Center on Aug. 7, according to a DCSO incident report. Watson waved his Miranda rights and wrote a full confession detailing the incidents, according to a DCSO incident report. He was charged and went before Dorchester County Magistrate Harry Boatwright for a bond hearing Aug. 8.

Boatwright set surety bonds of $15,000 on each of the nine disseminating obscene materials charges and a $20,000 surety bond on the solicitation charge, bringing the total to $155,000.

Watson has not posted bond, according to the Dorchester County Clerk of Court’s office. He is currently housed in the Dorchester County Detention Center.
