Southbound 78 now open after accident

A portion of U.S. 78 was closed for about 20 minutes today to allow a medical helicopter to land. The S.C. Highway Patrol said there was a collision near S.C. 27 and I-26 at 3 p.m. involving a dump truck filled with rock. One person had to be airlifted to MUSC in unknown condition, according to the highway patrol. Southbound 78 was closed but reopened at 3:23 p.m., according to the patrol.
