Pinewood swimmers compete in Northwood Invitational

On Saturday the Panthers swimmers competed against nine other teams at the Northwood Invitational in Goose Creek.

Freshman Matti Easterday finished third in the 50-yard Freestyle with teammates Julia Meyer in sixth place and Emily Shuler eighth.

Sophomore Katie Stagliano placed seventh with a personal best time in the 100 Freestyle.

In the 100 Backstroke, junior Samantha Hilleshiem took 10th.

Hannah Bulick had a personal best time and a ninth-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke.

The Lady Panthers’ 200 Medley Relay team (K. Stagliano, A. Rook, L. Smoak, and J. Meyer) had a seventh-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.

In the 500 Freestyle, Easterday finished in sixth place and Stagliano placed seventh.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team (E. Shuler, S. Hilleshiem, K. Stagliano, and M. Easterday) placed third.

In the final event, the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay the team (E. Shuler, S. Hilleshiem, A. Rook, and M. Easterday) placed sixth.

Overall, the Pinewood girls finished in sixth place.

The boys also had a great meet, placing third.

In the 200 Freestyle, freshman Connor Campbell placed third.

Sophomores Nathan Greenslit and Ray Mennetti had a great race in the 50 Freestyle, finishing in fifth place and seventh place, respectively.

The Panther 200 Medley Relay team (L. Easterday, J. Jurgensmeyer, C. Campbell and B. Hiel) placed fifth.

The Pinewood 200 Individual Medley was a strong event for the Panthers as Greenslit placed third, Campbell placed fourth and two of their teammates also placed.

Mennetti took 10th in the 100 Yard Freestyle.

The Panther 200/400 Free Relay team (N. Greenslit, R. Mennetti, K. Patel, and M. Saeger) placed second in the 200 Free Relay and third in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

The Panthers will next compete in a dual meet against Summerville High School on Aug. 28 at the Newington Pool.
