Green Wave sweeps swim meet

Summerville’s Sarah Ann Welsh won two individual events Aug. 28 and helped the Lady Green Wave 200 Medley Relay team to a first-place finish.

The Green Wave swim team swept a home meet against Pinewood Prep Aug. 28.

The teams competed at the Newington pool. Summerville won the male meet 80-26 and the female meet 78-27.

Summerville’s Sarah Ann Welsh won the 100 Yard Butterfly race with a 1:04.67 state-qualifying time. Meredith Welsh won the 100 Breaststroke with a 1:15.01 state-qualifying time.

Other first-place finishes for the Summerville girls included Sofia Graham in the 200 Free (2:17.70) and 500 Free (6:15.65); Meredith Welsh in the 200 IM (2:28.40); Rachel Mitchell in the 100 Free (1:02.97); Sarah Ann Welsh in the 100 Backstroke (1:06.76); the Lady Wave 400 Free Relay Team (4:17.20); Lady Wave 200 Medley Relay Team (2:06.85) and Lady Wave 200 Free Relay Team (1:52.97).

During the boys’ meet, Summerville’s Hayden Guyer won the 100 Butterfly race with a state-qualifying 58.35 time. Guyer also won the 100 Back race with a 1:01.64 time.

Other first-place finishes for the Green Wave included Wade Hamilton in the 200 Free (1:59.99); Jack Hazel in the 200 IM (2:22.58) and 500 Free (5:35.49); Ethan McDuff in the 50 Free (25.44); Matthew O’Malley in the 100 Free (53.65); William Mathew Carrol in the 100 Breaststroke (1:14.71); Green Wave 400 Free Relay Team (3:43.42); Green Wave 200 Medley Relay Team (1:53.70); and Green Wave 200 Free Relay Team (1:40.58).
