Unexpected catch

  • Wednesday, September 3, 2014

Provided Retired Stratford High teacher Dave Corless decided to go fishing last month in a favorite neighborhood pond where he can usually count on catching a 1- or 2-pound catfish for dinner. Instead, Corless caught this monster – a 55.5 pound catfish. “To my surprise, I hooked and fought a giant catfish. I am experienced at catching big catfish from places like the Tail Race Canal and Lake Moultrie. After keeping it hooked for quite a while I was able to get it netted and safely on shore. It wore this 70-year-old man out, but well worth the effort!” he wrote. Corless weighed the fish at Charleston Angler on S.C. 61. And no, he won’t share where he caught this giant!
