Elementary student threatens to shoot teacher

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office is looking into alleged threats made by a William M. Reeves Elementary School student to shoot a teacher.

The incident occurred on August 27, according to a DCSO incident report.

According to the report, an assistant principal reported that a teacher informed her that a juvenile student threatened to shoot the teacher. The student allegedly told the teacher there were guns at his house and one of them was on the front porch.

The principal said the child did not have a weapon in his possession at school, according to the report.

The responding deputy conducted a welfare check at the child’s residence and found a pellet gun on a washing machine on the front porch. The deputy spoke to the child’s mother and informed her of the incident. The mother stated that there was only one firearm in the residence, which she showed the deputy; it was inoperable, according to the report.

The principal and the child’s mother stated that the child has made many comments about behaving violently, which they said they had been trying to correct.

The case is under investigation, according to DCSO officials.
