Melanie Joanne Florencio and Gene Caleb Sexton, both of Silver Spring, Maryland, are engaged to be married on June 11, 2016 at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in Summerville.
The bride is the daughter of Joseph and Joanne Florencio of Summerville.
The bridegroom is the son of Tommy and Lynn Sexton of Northport, Alabama.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Bishop England High School. She graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2009 and earned her Master’s degree in 2011. She is employed as a product designer with General Dynamics Health Solutions in Silver Spring, designing educational materials for military veterans who suffer from traumatic brain injury. In her spare time she enjoys illustrating comic books.
The bridegroom is a 2006 graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School. He is a 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama and a 2014 graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he earned his Master’s degree. He is employed as a design strategist with Maga Design in Washington, D.C.
In his spare time he is creating a mobile healthcare app for dermatology.
