Chinnis, Rutland exchange vows

Meredith Ashlan Chinnis and Gregory Joseph Rutland of Summerville were married on June 4, 2016 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Summerville.

The bride’s father gave her away. Rev. Dr. Robert J. Howell, Jr. officiated.

Following the ceremony, guests celebrated with the happy couple at the Woodlands Mansion. The bride and groom were sent off by their guests amid a bright tunnel of sparklers and good wishes as they left in the bride’s grandfather’s 54 Chevy Bel-Air automobile.

The bride is the daughter of Charles David and Barbara Holmes Chinnis of Summerville. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Barbara H. Hughes of Summerville and the late Mr. Ronald J. Hughes of Greenville, Tennessee, and of the late Mr. Leonard A. Holmes of Louisville, Kentucky, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Joan Chinnis of Summerville. She is the great-granddaughter of Mrs. Margaret Blackmon and the late Mr. Presley W. Blackmon of Summerville.

The groom is the son of George Gregory and Tammy Flannery Rutland of Summerville. He is the grandson of Mr. Jim and the late Mrs. Carol Flannery of Summerville, as well as Mr. and Mrs. L.S. and Faye Robinson of Cope, South Carolina.

Miss Meagan Hope Chinnis, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor, and Mrs. Kasey Marie McManus was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Amy Woodell Bardi, Mrs. Annie Beury Belch, Mrs. Brooks Hearn Crom and Miss Morgan Duke.

George Gregory Rutland, father of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Michael Rutland, the groom’s brother; Mr. Micah Chinnis, the bride’s brother; Mr. Douglas Stoudenmire; Mr. Timothy Windsor and Mr. Joseph Begley.

The bride wore a lovely white MoriLee gown by Madeline Gardner with soft layers of tulle. The bodice was asymmetrically draped with shoestring straps and a beaded satin belt. Her bridal veil of tulle was worn by her mother in her wedding.

The bridesmaids wore a watermelon colored, Alfred Sung full length dupioni sleeveless dress. The dress was adorned with a bow at the high neck.

The bride is a 2008 graduate of Fort Dorchester High School and a 2011 graduate of the University of South Carolina. She is employed by Dorchester District 2 Schools.

The bridegroom is a 2007 graduate of Summerville High School. He attended Midlands Technical College. He is employed by Sportsman Boats.

The couple honeymooned in the Dominican Republic at Punta Cana. They will make their home in Summerville.
