Rita C. Berry

The Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Rita C. Berry, President/CEO of the organization, has been elected to the 2012 Board of Directors of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the nation’s first state chamber accredited with Distinction by the U.S. Chamber, is the state’s largest statewide broad-based business and industry trade association representing more than 18,000 businesses and more than one million employees.

Adding to this prestigious election, Berry has also been appointed as Vice President for Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (CACCE). The CACCE equips Chamber of Commerce professionals with leadership skills and tools to build innovative Chambers.

Berry has proudly served as President/CEO of the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce since April of 2007. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Charleston Regional Development Alliance; Legislative Agenda Task Force and Small Business Committees for the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce; Land Use Committee and Environment Committees for the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments; and the School Improvement Council for Summerville High School. She is involved in and supports many of our local community organizations.

In 2010, Berry was recognized by the Carolina Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives as South Carolina’s Chamber Executive of the Year. She and her husband, Chris, have twins that are juniors at Summerville High School.
