Chief Master Sergeant Promotion

Macko

Sergeant James C. Macko was promoted to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant on Sept 1, 2011. Chief Macko is an Air Reserve Technician Flight Chief assigned to the 315 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Joint Base Charleston. The squadron is an associate reserve unit maintaining C-17 aircraft providing airlift support and aero medical evacuation. The 315 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron enables the 315 Airlift Wing and its active duty counterpart the 437 Airlift Wing to participate in military operations involving the air-land and airdrop of troops, equipment and supplies. Chief Macko has served in the Air Force for 30 years and was mobilized in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm and also Operation ENDURING and IRAQI FREEDOM. He is a member of the initial C-17 aircraft maintenance cadre and also was a Flying Crew Chief on the C-17 aircraft accumulating over 1000 flying hours. He was a member of the first C-17 Air Mobility Command Airlift Rodeo Competition in which his team won the Best C-17 Maintenance Team, Post flight and Preflight Awards. Chief Macko is a graduate from RB Stall High School and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He resides in Summerville with his daughter Allie.
