Todd Gallati, President and CEO of Trident Health System, is serving as the Chair of the American Heart Association’s 2010 Start! Lowcountry Heart Walk, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Liberty Square near the South Carolina Aquarium. Last year, more than 4,000 Lowcountry area residents participated in the Heart Walk by taking steps to improve their heart health. Moreover, the Heart Walk event raises funds and awareness for cardiovascular disease and stroke research. MUSC Health is the presenting sponsor of Start! Lowcountry.
Gallati, FACHE has been a healthcare administrator with HCA for over 20 years and is the President/Chief Executive Officer of Trident Health System, which includes Trident, Summerville and Moncks Corner Medical Centers. He received his Bachelor of Science in Management from Florida State University and his Masters degrees in Business Administration and Health Administration from the University of Florida. Mr. Gallati is actively involved with various organizations in the community, including: American Heart Association, Rotary, Berkeley Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and the Charleston Regional Development Alliance.
Each day, nearly 2,400 Americans die from a cardiovascular disease. That’s an average of one death every 37 seconds. A leading risk factor for heart attack and stroke is lack of physical activity. Research has also found that individuals may gain two hours of life expectancy for every one hour of regular, vigorous exercise they do.
Start! Heart Walk is nationally sponsored by Subway Restaurants®. For information on participating in the Start! Lowcountry Heart Walk, call the American Heart Association at 843-843-1597 or visit www.startlowcountrysc.org.
