Summerville Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety. Summerville is one of the first hospitals in South Carolina to achieve designation in both knee and hip total joint certification.

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation’s health care through voluntary accreditation.

Status as a designated facility in both knee and hip total joint certification means Summerville Medical Center has passed a series of rigorous and nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care, set by The Joint Commission.

“We proudly accept this recognition from The Joint Commission; this designation underscores our long-standing commitment to providing the highest possible level of care to the community we serve,” said Lynn Haney-Singleton, chief nursing officer at Summerville Medical Center. “In addition, the certification validates the high quality and standard of care we provide to our patients daily. Thank you to our wonderful staff and physicians who worked diligently to achieve this result.”
