Tri-County Regional Chamber of Commerce Board Officers for 2012 are (seated from left) Past President Jackie Jenkins and President-elect Chasity Avinger, and (standing from left) Immediate Past President Mike Norris, Treasurer Bill Utsey, Vice President Carlton Connor and 2012 President Vincent Martin.

During the recent Tri-County Regional Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet/Installation Ceremony, 2011 Board President Mike Norris administered the oath of office to 2012 President Vincent Martin, President-elect Chasity Avinger, Vice President Carlton Connor, Treasurer Bill Utsey, and other re-elected and newly elected board members.

In turn, Martin, who is environmental manager for Argos Cement (formerly Lafarge), presented a plaque to 2011 President Mike Norris, retired manager of Brosnan Forest who serves as co-director of the Branchville Railroad Shrine and Museum, in appreciation for the progress made during Norris's year of outstanding, dedicated service as president of the Chamber.

Nominees recommended for board of directors seats were approved by the large gathering of Chamber members and were officially installed. Newly elected board members were Orangeburg County Consolidated School District Three Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Cash-Greene, Vance Town Councilman Douglas Chapman, and Santee Cooper Community Relations Manager Mark Pilgrim. Re-elected board members included Appraisal Services of S.C., Inc. owner Ed Carter, retired Albemarle Corporation manager Charles Heyward, Santee Mayor Donnie Hilliard, Linwood Ling of Ling Funeral Home, and Eutawville Councilperson Mary Lynn Owen.

During the program, Norris recognized Executive Director Teresa Hatchell; Margaret Harris, Tourism Coordinator for Holly Hill; Frances Fralix, Assistant to the Director and Tourism Coordinator for St. George; and Helen Simmons, Office Assistant for Holly Hill, for their dedication and hard work for the Chamber. Also, a number of wonderful people who help the Chamber by voluntarily serving at functions throughout the year were recognized for their dedication. Those volunteers included Ed Harris, Bettye Littlefield, Gene Brownlee, Carlton Connor, Gaye Connor, Libby Fairey, Roy Judy, Mike Norris, Robby Robbins, Delores Sloan, and Bill Utsey.

The Chamber's first Business After Hours of the year will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 19 at It's A Great Day At County Corner Diner in Holly Hill. Members are encouraged to attend this great networking event, and businesses interested in becoming Chamber members are welcome to attend. Call the Chamber's St. George office at 843-563-9091 for more information or to RSVP for the event.
