Reverend and Mrs. Randell Blackman of Spartanburg, South Carolina

Reverend and Mrs. Randell Blackman of Spartanburg, South Carolina celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary October 28, 2011. They were married at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Cross, South Carolina.

Mrs. Blackman is the former Patricia Ann Staley of Moncks Corner, S.C.

Rev. Blackman served as Pastor of Jamestown Baptist Church of Jamestown, SC (1975-1985), Kingstree Second Baptist Church of Kingstree, SC (1985 – 1991) and Drayton Baptist Church of Spartanburg, SC (1991 – 2006).

Mrs. Blackman, a native of Moncks Corner, worked at Harvey’s 5 & 10 previously located on Main Street in Moncks Corner from 1960 to 1971. In 1971, she started her most important career as a stay-at-home Mom to raise sons Dean (born June 8, 1971) who lives today with his wife Amy in Boiling Springs, South Carolina; and Ryan (born Jan. 23, 1975) who lives in Winston Salem, North Carolina.  Her two boys are forever grateful for the wonderful job she did in raising them.

The Blackmans have two grandsons, Nicholas, 3, and Ethan, 2.

The Blackmans live in Spartanburg, South Carolina where they attend and are actively involved in Beaumont Baptist Church.

In addition to spending time with their children and grandchildren they enjoy traveling back “home” to Berkeley County to visit extended family and close friends including Mederia and Hermine Gaskins of Moncks Corner. One particular event they look forward to annually is Camp Meeting held each October at Cypress Campground located in Dorchester County; the Gaskins, Salisbury and Whitley Families along with the Blackmans have been involved in this Methodist event for over 40 years.

A special family dinner was held to honor the Blackman’s 50-year marriage. The dinner was hosted by the sons, daughter-in-law and grandsons.

Randell, Dean and Ryan presented Patricia with a custom made ring designed by themselves from a blue topaz stone Ryan purchased for his Mother while in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Patricia presented Randell with a custom engraved gold pocket watch.
