The story centered on the fact Dale Wallace chose to name his shop "Blooming Dale's," similar to the famous department store.

"He should not change his name. How is it that by selling flowers he is diluting the Bloomingdales name? Let them sue him and let a judge decide."

"I agree with Tom H. The names (technically) are not even the same, Blooming Dale's vs. Bloomingdales. The problem is that this small businessman will be out thousands of dollars trying to defend this claim. A big corporation like Bloomingdales can afford it, which is why they can push little businesses around. That's just plain wrong!"

"Bloomingdales should be ashamed of themselves. I will not do business with them just because of this story and for the record Macy's department stores leave a lot to be desired. It's like walking into a Ross department store. They harm their own image more than a flower shop in little Summerville, SC."

"I know Dale and have worked with him several years, and I am sure that all will agree that there was never any bad intent in the naming of his company. This is a perfect example of why it's so hard for anyone to try to make an honest living . I personally think Bloomingdale's should feel honored he chose the name his mother picked, and should stand up to the one responsible for stirring the pot. Let them take him to court! I am sure the courts will strongly agree in this matter and will rule in Dale's favor!"
