A week after a cluster of three houses in a Trolley Road subdivision were robbed, an unknown thief broke into a vehicle on the same street and stole $80 in cash, a Summerville report shows.
The owner, a resident of Mill Pond Court in Brandymill, said her vehicle was unlocked when the cash was taken. It occurred sometime between 8 p.m. on March 24 and 9 a.m. the next morning, the report states.
She said she found the contents of her glove box were on the passenger's seat when she discovered the car had been broken into. She said nothing else was taken from her vehicle.
An unknown thief — or thieves — broke into three nearby houses March 17 and stole items ranging from loose change to electronics to jewelry.
Television thief makes a run for it
Summerville police were dispatched March 25 to Wal-Mart on North Main Street after receiving reports that an unknown white male between the ages of 18 and 20 picked up two Polaroid 19-inch televisions, walked toward the front of the store and took off running when he got to the store's entrance, a report shows.
The complainant, possibly a store employee, followed the suspect through the parking lot and told police he last saw him near Fazoli's, the report states.
Police searched the area but didn't find the suspect, according to the report.
The total value of the televisions listed in the report was $1,100.
Sure you want to report that stolen?
A 68-year-old man in unincorporated Summerville called the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office March 17 to report that a case of beer was stolen from the refrigerator in his garage, a report shows.
He told a deputy he went into his garage and his case of Miller Lite was missing. According to the report, he said he didn't see anyone take the beer but he knows it was there
Where’s my Britney?
On March 23, a Summerville police officer was flagged down by a 20-year-old woman who said a former friend had taken her Playboy clock and Britney Spears perfume while she was in jail, a report shows.
She said the friend had always talked about how she wanted the items and she knew the apartment was left unlocked when she was taken to jail. She said there were no signs of forced entry and the rest of her bedroom was in order, according to the report.
She said she doesn't plan on pressing charges. The suspect wasn't home when police arrived at the scene, the report states.
Suspect tries to make her own refund
Summerville police met with a complainant at a Chinese restaurant Monday where a female customer reportedly demanded a refund after eating more than half of her meal and then stole $6 from the tip jar, a report shows.
According to the victim/complainant, he said to the woman — described as a black female between the ages of 20 and 30 — that the restaurant doesn't give refunds if more than half of the meal has been consumed. He said she became "querulous" when the refund policy was explained to her. She then allegedly reached into the tip jar, grabbed the money and fled the scene.
