School receives bomb threat

Police responded to Summerville High School April 9 after someone in the guidance office reported receiving a call around 10:40 a.m. from an unknown male who said the school would be blown up in 30 minutes, a report shows.

Advised of the threat, administrators immediately searched the school’s common areas and found no foreign objects, so the school day was not interrupted, according to the report.

Police traced the call back to a pay phone at the Kangaroo Express gas station, located at 1595 Trolley Road, the report states.

The pay phone has no video surveillance and the gas station’s manager said she didn’t remember who could have used it around the time of the call, according to the report.

Sharp tactics

Earlier this month, an unknown employee at a Summerville electronics distribution facility twice tried to injure another employee by hiding razor blades on and around boxes in the warehouse, a report shows.

According to the report, the razor blades were arranged so as to cut along a person’s wrists, forearms and/or face. No one was injured.

Summerville police submitted the blades as evidence for fingerprinting, the report states.

Killer rabbits

A Dorchester man, arrested April 6 for discharging a firearm while intoxicated, told Dorchester County sheriff’s deputies he was trying to shoot the killer rabbits who were after him, a report shows.

When deputies arrived at the man’s house, he was “highly intoxicated and could barely stand on his own,” the report states. He said he was on his property and he could shoot his gun if he wanted to.

The deputies noted the man was too intoxicated and becoming irate. He began yelling at his wife — saying that if he found out she called the cops on him their marriage was over, the report states.

The shotgun, found in a back bathroom by the commode, and shells were placed into evidence for safekeeping, the report states.

Vandals leave (tire) tracks

At least five residents on two streets near Dorchester Road reported tire marks in their yard April 6, sheriff’s office reports show.

Some residents reported one tire track — others reported two. Some residents claimed they heard screeching tires — others said they heard nothing. The two common threads were the presence of tire marks and the fact no one actually saw a car produce them, the reports show.

Four of the incidents occurred on Fort Street within a 90-minute window. A fifth incident occurred later that night, on nearby Nantucket Drive.

The residents were advised to contact authorities if they see any suspicious vehicles, the reports state.
